Thinking about a holiday to New Zealand but just cant face the long flight? Air New Zealand have got you covered! Whether your a parent trying to keep young children happy or simply a couple who would like a bit of extra room, the innovative Economy Skycouch is the solution.
What is Skycouch?
So what exactly is this Skycouch and is it in Economy?
Air New Zealand have simply created rows of economy seats that can be turned into couch's, of course which must be put back into the up right position for take off and landing. So you, your friends and family can stretch out and get comfortable for the long ride. Clever and comfortable, the area is flexible in allowing you to only turn two seats into a coach for a play area for your children whilst you sit in the third seat comfortably with your leg rest. Or of course if you take full advantage and turn your row into a nice comfortable bed you will also be provided with bedding and pillows in this worlds first ever economy long haul solution!
Hold on, is there the possibility you may end up sharing your Skycouch with a stranger? Hell No! when you upgrade your seats to Economy Skycouch you get the entire row just to yourself, to enjoy privacy and peace the whole journey.
There is of course safety measures and you will be asked to have your seat belt visible, above the covers around your waist as you count sheep, and they do provide Infant Harness and even Pod's for the safety and comfort of little ones.
As usual you will be served food and drink alongside enjoying the on board entertainment which comes as standard with Economy fares.

How do they work?
The seats are the exact same as their Economy seats, except you have a larger footrest that folds up to form a couch. Each seat can choose if they want the footrest at a 60 or 90 degree angle or indeed down for their flight. All armrests (apart from the aisle seat) lift up and disappear into the back of the seats. When its time to get some shut eye simply ask an air steward to help you set up your bed for the night.
In its full glory the Skycouch is 1.55m (5ft1") in length and 29" (2ft4")deep.
