Iceland Review

Where did we go? Iceland - Reykjavik How did we get there? Flights with BA – Economy then transfer by train and bus. Where did we stay? Sand Hotel Reykjavik

Activities Literally a jam package long weekend including the Golden Circle Tour, Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa, Northern Lights boat ride and Perlan Museum! 2 nights and 3 days full of fun!

Highlights A personal highlight is the Gullfloss Waterfall on the Golden Circle Tour and the treatment at the Blue Lagoon Spa which came with the Retreat Spa package. The hotel we stayed in was so perfect, right in the centre of the action and serving the most delicious fresh breakfasts, the Skyr yogurt was a personal favourite to wake up to every morning.

Best and Worst Best, we are torn between the Golden Circle Tour, as you really are guaranteed to see everything and the views are unbelievable, along with the Blue Lagoon Retreat Spa Package. The lagoon is a once in a lifetime experience and you must do it, by booking the package you also get the Retreat Experience. This includes multiple stations along which you exfoliate your body with salts, mask them in clay and then moisturise them in rich hydrating lotions. Worst was the temperature, it really was freezing and if you wander down to the sea front (which you absolutely have to do as the view is incredible) the wind really does bite.

Recommendations Do our exact itinerary, it was perfect and I would do it all over again. Food Stops – Forretta Barinn and Iceland Street Food, both amazing for different reasons. Forretta Barinn is more like a gastro local bar/restaurant serving fresh local food. Iceland Street Food is an experience, think local café, plastic bowls and plates and real local grub made by locals, free refills too!
