Normandy - 2018

Where did we go? Normandy How did we get there? Drove and caught the ferry from Dover. Where did we stay? Air BnB – Manoir Du - Écoquenéauville

Activities We drove to Utah Beach for the day and experienced everything it has to offer including the museum. It really is a must see in Normandy and such an eye opening and educating experience. Other places we visited were Rouen the capital of Normandy, Barfluer a postcode seaside town and Hon Fluer a riverside spot with enchanting architecture.

Highlights Utah Beach Museum, so much detail has been kept here and so much to learn for all ages. Hon Fluer was an area we could have stayed in for longer, more cobbled streets to explore and local shops to encounter. We stayed in a gorgeous castle which had been turned into a holiday home, with 8 of us staying together we had lots of room and enjoyed a real French ambience.

Best and Worst Best – Utah Beach. Worst – We found it hard to accommodate 8 people in the local town of Écoquenéauville there wasn’t much in the area food and drink wise so we had to drive further out. Recommendations Le-Panoramique restaurant for a special meal, we celebrated two 30th birthdays and enjoyed bubbles on the terrace before a 3 course dinner in a gorgeous restaurant with views for miles and into the sea. Self-Drive or hire a car, the roads are easy to navigate and you get to explore the countryside at your own leisure.
