Pefkos, Rhodes

Updated: Feb 9, 2020

Set on the east coast of Rhodes, the teeny resort of Pefkos takes its name from the pine trees fringing its sandy beach. It’s a former fishing village that hasn’t lost its old-world charm – as you’ll see from the welcoming bars and restaurants along its two main streets. The appeal here is the slow tempo, but livelier Lindos is close by and heritage-packed Rhodes Town is just up the coast, too.

Blue Flag beach

Pefkos’ Blue Flag beach is made from soft, golden sand that curves round a sleepy bay backed by pine forests. At the far end, there are some rocky coves that make great little swimming spots, and the gin-clear water is always popular with snorkellers. Watersports fans will find plenty to keep them busy here, too, with kite-surfing and windsurfing on offer.

Laid-back nightlife

Pefkos really isn’t one of those resorts that turns into a party animal at night. Apart from a couple of livelier spots with karaoke and DJs, most of the bars along the simply-named Main Road and Main Beach Road deal in friendly conversation over cocktails and cold beers. Or, there’s always the option of relaxing over an ouzo at one of the lantern-lit tavernas.

Daytrips to Rhodes Town

An hour’s drive takes you to the capital, Rhodes Town. This UNESCO-stamped favourite is a real heritage hotspot. Behind its Medieval walls, the must-see sights include the Street of the Knights and the impressive fortress, the Palace of the Grand Master. The narrow cobbled streets also lead to designer boutiques, traditional craft shops and trendy bars.

Eagles Nest Hotel

The 4-star Eagles Nest Hotel is located on a beautiful tree-covered hillside overlooking the resort of Pefkos on the fourth largest of the Greek Islands, Rhodes. The hotel offers impressive views of the Aegean sea, and is the perfect place for families and couples who want a relaxing, luxurious holiday in a beautiful part of the world.

The Eagles Nest is a modern hotel with 15 luxury suites and 33 rooms. Each suite has a balcony from which you can enjoy the sea view and surrounding landscape. Each room is equipped with all of the mod cons, such as a flat-screen satellite TV, refrigerator and shower, as well as a comfortable bed. The hotel boasts an indoor and an outdoor pool, which means you can enjoy a swim whatever the weather, before having a drink at the poolside bar. The Eagles Nest restaurant serves a continental breakfast every morning, and a range of contemporary dishes and traditional Greek cuisine for lunch and dinner. The Sunset Cocktail Bar is located on the roof of the hotel, and is the perfect place to enjoy a drink while watching the sun go down over the sea.

The Eagles Nest is just 700m from the golden sands of Philosophia Beach. If you walk a little further along the coast, you'll reach Plakia Beach, a popular spot for snorkelling, sunbathing and swimming. Lindos, the "Jewel of Rhodes," is a traditional Greek village, which features a maze of small streets, whitewashed ancient houses, and a wonderful and ancient Acropolis.

James at Tailormade Escapes is so helpful and professional. He helped organise a little babymoon get away for us to Rhodes and although we weren't the easiest of customers he gave us lots of different options to help us decide what was best for us. We would highly recommend using Tailormade and no doubt we will be calling on James in the future!
